CASE STUDY -- Lake Health District,
comprised of Lake District
Hospital, Long Term Care, Home Health & Hospice had a significant
backlog of Medical Records estimated at 4,000,000 pages covering a
period of approximately thirty years. The files occupied space
that could be used more effectively.
Prior to scanning, a Records Retention program was implemented to purge
those files that could be safely destroyed. The Records Retention
program was so successful that approximately 90% of the existing records
could be removed.

The remaining records were consolidated
and the newly acquired space was used for expansion.
